To know Matt, Angela, and family is to absolutely love them. Their deep love and affection for one another is not only palpable, it is infectious. They are so fun to photograph because their smiles are genuine and easy. For this year’s Bay Area family photo session we wanted something a bit closer to home and with lots of trees. Fortunately in the East Bay there is no shortage of that!

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER

We both agreed that the redwoods would be an ideal and magical setting to document their family’s story this year. Those towering trees with dreamy beams of light warmly peaking through and the hushed sound of our footsteps along the soft earth create location perfection. The redwoods are also ideal if you have an affinity for trees or are a devout nature lover. This location is also a great option if you are looking for an earlier start time. This can be handy when you have younger children who struggle with evening sessions.

After a round of hearty hugs we got down to business: catching up on all the good things the past year has brought. Yes, there would be photos, but first it was fun to just hear about what has been going in their lives since we last saw one another. There’s been a move to Portland, the acceptance to San Jose State University, and life as an upperclassman in high school. SO much goodness! We also shared some humorous childhood stories. All of these helped create some authentic expressions and smiles.
